Hi everyone,
The club mentioned in this article is without any doubt the Football Club of Sochaux-Montbeliard. The description made in it (a historical french club with a chinese owner and with an important debt) sticks to our situation. Local newspapers in France have already made articles that confirms the interest of Alaves and that delegations from Alaves have already been to the Bonal Stadium to discuss.
I don't speak spanish so I hope that you will understand me :? :P ). I want to know a bit more your club, your history and more important the strategy of this (maybe) future investment etc. because to be honest i have only heard of your club through Théo Hernandez and Enzo Zidane. I am going to make a quick presentation of my club, its history, its actual situation and the advantages for Alaves in case both of our clubs will be linked (this perspective will surely benefits your club more than ours).
So, Sochaux is one of the first club of the French Championship. The club was created in 1928 by Peugeot to entertain the workers of the auto factory. Our prize list is not so long (two championships and three national cups) and some european adventures (for example, quite recently in 2004 and 2005 we have beaten Borussia Dortmund and Sporting Portugal) but the most important for our rather small town is a traditionally offensive play and the formation of young players (you might recognize some of these players that were formed in our club : Cédric Bakambu, Jérémy Mathieu, Jérémy Ménez, Ryad Boudebouz, Marvin Martin, Ibrahima Konaté) which could be interesting for you.
We are also the second french club that stayed the most longer in first division after Olympique Marseille but we are now since 4 years in League 2 and our historical owner Peugeot has decided to sold us 3 years ago and since 3 years we have a lot of economics problems linked with the new chinese owner which appears to be a trader and knows nothing about football. Moreover his company is not serious at all. Supporters are therefore angry but mostly worried about this situation.

Hi PAF,

First of all thanks for taking some time to write here, I think your info will be very useful for all Alaves fans who want to know something else about your club. Regarding what you said, it could be possible that Alaves wants to invest in your club in order to take control over such an academy. I didn't know, but it's impressive that all those players started in Sochaux.

Regarding Alaves, it's a club which will be 100 y/o in 2021 so it has a wide history, even if it hasn't been one of the most glorious clubs of Spain (curious because our nickname is Glorioso, which means Glorious). Our biggest achievements have been mainly two:

- Reaching UEFA Cup final in 2001. You'll probably remember this because it's catalogued as one of the best european finals ever. We were defeated by Liverpool 5-4 in the overtime with an autogoal. Those years were when Alaves did the best in La Liga as well, being close to win the championship and also close to qualify for Champions League. Players like Óscar Téllez, Jordi Cruyff, Javi Moreno, Cosmin Contra or Delfi Geli played in that team.

-Also we played Spanish Cup final in 2017 and lost vs Barcelona in a great match. That's the team where Theo played.

Anyway we have historically been an alternating team between first and second division. Also we were close to disappear some years ago, when we spent 4 years in the spanish 3rd league. That was when the current managers took the team and brought us to where we are.

Recently the expansion project is taking serious dimension as the club is controlling NK Rudes from croatian 1st division and Hercules FC from the finnish league. I guess that the objectives are different for each club. Anyway managers also control Saski Baskonia basketball club, which is one of the most famous teams in Europe, taking part in Euroleague for the last a lot of years.

It looks like the objective is to build a strong sports net througout Europe in order to get stability and not to be depending on results of only one club. As well as Rudes or Hercules are not going to be able to be strong clubs comparing to La Liga ones, I can see that maybe Sochaux could be one of those, reaching first division and maybe with the objective of playing european championship.

We will see. Hope that you know now something else. In case you have doubts, just ask! And thanks for the report.

Wellcome PAF.

I could say the same that said my partner justfind. Deportivo Alavés is an historic but small club that actually is growing a lot thanks to the same investors (Saski Baskonia) who wants to purchase your club. The objective of our investors is make in Deportivo Alavés a similar project than other investors made in Villarreal CF years ago, make a strong club that will classify to Europe competitions. I guess the intention is to make the same with Sochaux-Montbéliard, making synergies between both clubs.

Geographically, our club is sited in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, with population of 250.000, capital city of historic region of Álava (our name, Alavés, comes from the region name) and capital of Basque Country Community.

You are wellcome, and, if both clubs, Deportivo Alavés and Sochaux-Montbéliard, finnaly makes this association, we will proud that you and other Sochaux fans will come here to talk about our clubs. Whatever happens, I wish the best for your historic club and expect soon Sochaux-Montbéliard will return to the first division, the place that corresponds.

PD: I hope you understand my poor english

Bienvenue PAF

Personne n áurait pu y penser a 2011.

Thanks for all your answers (and for the effort of speaking in english and even in french, I have all understood ;) ) , it will also be very useful for all Sochaux fans. So finally what I have understand is that our teams have historically a lot of similarities (it would have been very painful to be linked to a big club or "company" with absolutely no history). I don't know how I made to forgot you lost final against Liverpool because after watching a video I remember it now
Here are links to some french articles talking about your team's interest in Sochaux :
- https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actuali ... e-2/893535
- https://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr ... 59785.html
Basically, we don't know if the discussions are really advanced between Sochaux and Saski Baskonia but what is sure is that some delegations from Alaves were in Sochaux few weeks ago and that this project is the last one we have heard about in the press so I suppose it's quite serious. The point of contention seems to be the price of purchase because while our ridiculous owner is willing to sold the club between 5 and 7 millions (which is complete none sense as the last valuable thing in our club si our academy), Saski Baskonia wants to refund the debt of the club but we will know more about it in the following months I guess.
The feeling of Sochaux fans could be resume like this : - we don't want to die so we want you but we don't want to lose complete independance and to become the laboratory of another club so we do not want you. Very paradoxal I must admit yes  but it is becoming very dangerous for us and apart from local projects (which don't have the same financial standing of Saski Baskonia) I believe that you are the only serious project able to push the actual owner out of our club.
So have a good week and I guess I will come back later when there will be new informations.
And if our two clubs become partners in future I hope that success will follow both Alaves and Sochaux ;)

Vamos Rudes!!!
